June - Equinox new moon

The new moon falls on Saturday June 17 at 9:37PM PDT.

It will be aligned with the constellation Gemini, more precisely Orion, called Mrigashiras in Vedic astrology. It's also known as the Hunter.

It's a constellation linked to research and exploration. This new moon invites us to ask ourselves: what am I looking for in my life, am I looking at the right place, in the right way?

It's a good time to question and introspect, with Saturn going retrograde until November, as it does every year for 4-5 months. A time to reflect on the past 6 months, to finish what needs to be finished, to bring things full circle.

The Orion constellation is ruled by the deity Soma, goddess of the moon. She is linked to magical plants, the forest and nature. In Vedic times, Soma was a nectar (amrit), an elixir of life and immortality enjoyed by the gods. It's said that we have this nectar inside us, flowing down from the head through the throat, and that it can take away our need to eat and drink! With a lot of meditation, pranayamas and fasting, we can access it.

Throughout June, Mars and Venus are aligned with the constellation Hydra, in Cancer, linked to the energy of the serpent. Beware of excessive attachment and manipulation in relationships; we could also be very emotional and irritable, experiencing dissatisfaction; however, this is excellent for yoga, tantra, raising energy, working with the kundalini. Happy new moon and solstice!
