The days leading up to the new moon are a time for introspection and letting go of what no longer serves us. The day of the new moon is a good time to set new intentions for the month ahead. The new moon, which is the union of sun and moon, reunites our inner couple, yin and yang, our masculine and feminine currents, ida and pingala, the alignment of atma (our soul) with manas (our mind-emotions).
The new moon this month will be particularly strong and beneficial, as it takes place on a Monday, the day of the moon. It takes place in the constellation of Cancer, the sign it rules. It's a new moon of sensitivity, emotion, intuition and dreaming. This is the sign of the Divine Mother, inviting us to care for others and be sensitive to their needs. It's also an energy conducive to poetry and writing.
More precisely, the new moon will be aligned with the lunar constellation (nakshatra) Punarvasu, which means "the return of light", the calm after the storm of the previous nakshatra, Ardra. It's also known as the Star of Renewal. It symbolizes resilience and the ability to bounce back after an ordeal, to constantly renew oneself, to break out of the patterns we sometimes unconsciously repeat and which give us the impression of going round in circles, of stagnating. It's the star of new beginnings, free from the past. That's why it's often associated with fractals.
Punarvasu is ruled by Aditi, the mother of the 12 sun forms. She means "She who is limitless, infinite". She invites us to get out of our mental matrix, with its limits, judgments and ruminations, and embrace the unlimited.
Venus retrograde from July 23 to September 4 (which occurs approximately every 18 months) leads us to re-evaluate our relationships, to make adjustments, to come back to ourselves to listen to our heart's true needs, and to realize that, in the end, love is within us, that we are Love. Happy New Moon to all.
