July - New Moon of the Divine Mother

This will be the new moon this Thursday, July 28 at 10:55 am PDT.

It will be aligned with the constellation Cancer (sidereal astrology). It will be a new moon very rich in emotions, imagination and intuition! It is a favorable New Moon for gardening, cooking and the expression of our maternal and caring nature.

The new moon will be particularly aligned with the lunar constellation (nakshatra) Pushya, the "nurturing star". It is represented by a cow's udder and is linked to the Divine Mother who feeds us and holds us unconditionally. This is a time to bathe in her loving and secure energies, and feel that the Divine Mother is always there for us, no matter what the circumstances! It is also a good time to heal our wounds with the mother and reconcile with her. Pushya is ruled by the deity Brihaspati, the "priest of the gods". It is also a good new moon for rituals of all kinds.

However, this New Moon will not be all smooth sailing with this exceptional and very intense, even explosive Mars-Uranus-Rahu alignment (North Node) which will reach its climax on August 1st. We can already feel ourselves in a whirlwind of activity that never stops...and that can lead us to hyperactivity, impatience, irritability and hurtful words. On a global level, there can be fires and explosions. The Mars-Uranus-Saturn square, especially on August 7-8, can also bring frustration and obstacles in our plans.

Jupiter goes retrograde until November 24, a time for introspection and revisiting our spiritual practices. Happy New Moon to all!
