November - New Moon of Diwali

It will be the new moon this Thursday, November 4 at 1:15 pm, Pacific time.

The moon and the sun will be aligned with the constellation Libra (sidereal astrology). This constellation ruled by Venus loves beauty and harmony, partnerships. It also brings indecision and we may have a hard time getting aligned by the next New Moon. In any case, there will be two eclipses, one lunar on November 19 and the other solar on December 4. Eclipses often bring changes in energy in the weeks and months that follow.

The new moon will occur in the nakshatra (lunar constellation) Swati, ruled by Vayu, the god of air. This is an ideal time to do pranayamas, to work with the breath and to become aware of the importance of the breath. Indeed, the sages tell us that there is a close link between our breathing and our thoughts and emotions.

Until November 14, Venus passes in front of the galactic center, which can bring transformation in relationships and even destructive ones! We may feel like letting go of relationships that are no longer constructive, inspiring and uplifting. As this place is linked to the roots, it's time to get to the root of relationship challenges.

Until November 15, the Sun is "debilitated," and we may experience fatigue, lack of vitality, and sensitivity to cold.

As was the case at the last New Moon, Mars and Mercury will be with the New Moon. Until November 20, we should be careful with discussions and arguments where everyone wants to prove that they are right!

Mars in Libra until December 5 can make it difficult for us to express our personal will vs that of others, and even our anger and indignation, because Libra seeks harmony, compromise, does not want to make waves, break the status quo, displease or disturb. We may be torn between these two currents and will need to "take a deep breath" to channel and release this energy!

This new moon marks the celebration of Diwali in India, the festival of light, and its victory over darkness and ignorance. As the outer light diminishes, both literally and figuratively, we must remember that within us there is an eternal light where we can take refuge, regenerate and that we can radiate around us. Happy Diwali!
