September - Full Harvest Moon

It will be the full moon this Saturday, September 10 at 3am PDT.

It will be aligned with the constellation Aquarius (sidereal astrology). The Leo Aquarius axis is about the balance between selfishness and altruism, power and the people. There may be changes or upheavals, protests, demonstrations on this side!

The Full Moon will be in Pegasus called Purva Bhadrapada in Vedic astrology. Many symbols are associated with it: a funeral bed, reminding us of the reality of death and the necessity of detachment from our false identities (personality, thoughts, emotions, opinions...); its deity, Aja Ekapada, stands on one leg, and reminds us of the austerities necessary for transformation, and the importance of verticality and concentration on one point to raise energy; this is called Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses). In the Bhagavad-Gita, Krishna says, "Like a turtle retracting its limbs deep into its shell, he who succeeds in withdrawing his senses from their objects is firmly established in perfect consciousness." The unicorn (Pegasus is a winged horse) represents the 3rd eye opened through austerities and introspection.

On the day of the full moon, Mercury will become retrograde until October 2, in opposition to Jupiter. Mercury, the logic and intellect, is very strong in his sign of exaltation and Jupiter is also strong in dignity in Pisces, an intuitive and mystical sign. Our two hemispheres of the brain, reason and intuition, will be very strong and active, and we need to discern well when to use one and the other to avoid tug-of-war between reason and intuition.

Mars square Venus around September 11-21 can bring conflict, especially in love, and women need to make sure they get respect! So let's be gentle with each other during this time. Happy Full Moon!
