April - Super Full Moon of Devotion

Radha-Krishna.jpg

The moon will be full on Monday, April 26 at 8:30 pm PDT.

This will be the first of three supermoons of the year. Supermoons are larger, closer to the earth, more powerful, and have more influence on the tides and our emotions. The Full Moon will take place in the Aries-Libra axis (sidereal astrology). This axis is about self vs. others. We need to find the balance between giving and receiving, self-centerdness and compromise.

The Full Moon will be aligned with the star Arcturus, called Swati in Vedic astrology, the 'star of independence'. A wind of freedom will blow over the world! This star is ruled by Vayu, the god of air and wind. Every year at this full moon, Indians celebrate Hanuman, the monkey-headed god who is the son of Vayu according to their mythology. He symbolizes prana and the mind that is totally obedient and dedicated to Rama, the inner Self. This star is also related to restlessness, dispersion and indecision that occur when our breath is irregular and shallow. Pranayamas are needed to bring back our focus and mental calm.

Several planets are currently in Aries, a fire sign, and intersect Uranus, planets of surprises and sudden changes: Mercury until May 2 can lead us into ideological arguments, but also opens us up to new ideas and inspirations. Venus until May 5 could give us special encounters. Sun until May 15 encourages us to express our uniqueness. The energy is for new projects, extroversion, passion. Until May 1, these will be aligned with the star Bharani, ruled by Yama god of death and transformation. We may feel that we are giving birth to ourselves!

The energy will calm down from May 5, when Venus and Mercury will be in Taurus, the earth sign, a favourable time for business and the arts, relationships will be smoother and more harmonious. It's time to start gardening!

Ketu, the south node, planet of spiritual liberation, changes nakshatra after spending 7.5 months in Antares (Jyestha) associated with the spiritual war between the forces of darkness and the forces of light. It will enter Anuradha until February 13, 2022, which should greatly soften the energy, as it is the star of friendship and devotion. As this nakshatra is linked to Radha, Krishna's beloved, this is the time to practice bhakti yoga, to sing devotional songs to transcend this absurd world in which we live and find our inner Joy. Happy full moon to all!
