January - Full Moon of the Divine Mother

This will be the full moon on Monday, January 17 at 3:48 pm PST.

It will be aligned with the constellation Cancer. This will be a very powerful full moon, as the moon has its home in Cancer. All the qualities of the Moon and Cancer will be at their peak: imagination, intuition, sensitivity, but also hyper-sensitivity, attachment and vulnerability.

The Moon will be aligned with the lunar constellation (nakshatra) Pushya, the "nourishing star". Its symbol is a cow's udder and this constellation is therefore linked to the Divine Mother who feeds her children unconditionally. It invites us to take care of each other in these difficult times, and to trust that the Divine Mother will take care of us too. Pushya's deity is Brihaspati, the priest of the gods and lord of divine wisdom. His Shakti is the "power to channel creative spiritual energy". It is a good time to do rituals, prayers and bring spiritual energy into this very material and materialistic world!

January 14th in India is the "Makar Sankranti", the entry of the Sun into Capricorn and the resumption of the Sun's northward course until the summer solstice. So there is a lot of Capricornian energy in this Full Moon with Sun, Mercury, Saturn and Pluto. Capricorn is the sign of perseverance. We must not give up, but persist on the path with unwavering faith and confidence.

Mercury has just entered retrograde until February 3, as it does about 3 times a year. This is a time to reflect, reevaluate, introspect, but not to launch new projects, sign contracts, make commitments, because often, the energy "switches sides" when it goes direct again!

Mars has just entered Sagittarius until February 26 and will meet Venus the planet of love. Passion is in the air! There will be more and more crusades for truth and justice, as the warrior is in the sign of ethics and wisdom. Happy Full Moon to all!
