January - New Moon
It's the first new moon of the year on Wednesday 29 January at 4.36 am PST.
The waning moon until the new moon is a time to let go, to relax, to finish things off. The day after the New Moon is a good time to start new projects.
The New Moon takes place in the constellation of Capricorn (sidereal astrology). Capricorn invites us to empower ourselves, to reconnect with our great ambitions and to achieve them with patience, perseverance and realism, to walk our path sometimes alone, against wind and tide, like the mountain goat. The Mercury-Pluto conjunction that accompanies the luminaries will bring deep, penetrating, introspective thinking and lead us to revisit dark, forgotten places in our psyche.
The New Moon takes place in the nakshatra (lunar constellation) Shravana, symbolised by an ear. It represents listening and silence. It is known as the ‘star of learning’: to learn, you must first listen. This new moon invites us to stop and listen, whether to the sounds of nature, to others when they speak, or to the inner movements within us (guidance, emotions, intuition...). It's a good New Moon to start a course, learn a new language, recite mantras, or simply spend a day in physical and mental silence. As Shravana is ruled by Vishnu, it's a good time to sing devotional songs (bhakti).
Venus enters Pisces, its sign of exaltation, until June, which is exceptional. Venus usually only takes a month to cross a constellation, but because of its retrograde motion (from March 1 to April 11), it will linger in Pisces, along with Neptune and Rahou (North Node). Venus in Pisces brings sensitivity, empathy, devotion, mutual aid, inspiration, creativity, forgiveness, unconditional love and healing of the heart! Happy New Moon to you all!
